The Guur (shaman) of Jogini Ma.
14:05 - 13th April 2012, the first day of the Vashisht Village three day Mela (festival).
For some years after her old Guur (shaman) died, the Goddess had no earthly spokesperson but recently a new man has been inducted.
Since he is representing the Goddess & in some way, actually is the Goddess, he wears a woman's head covering. In this way is represented one of the most mysterious & least understood of the Goddess customs.
Here at Jogini, during this first day of the yearly mela, villagers bring their young sons for the first haircut (boys hair is never cut before this).
The shaman also gives blessings & advice to villagers (men & women) who submit problems for advice.
